The Orangery

The house was connected to the conservatory by a short corridor known as the Orangery, its name derived from its original purpose: that of overwintering citrus trees.
Contemporary photographs show this passageway to be a delightful botanical transition from the grandeur and opulence of the house into the semi-tropical greenery of the conservatory.
Both the orangery and conservatory would be adorned with decorations on special occasions.
